Details

Visions of Science (VoS) was at a moment of growth - their youth programming had expanded and evolved, and they were widening their ecosystem by engaging educators, caretakers and a broader network of partners & supporters. Their small, starter website had not evolved to meet the needs of the newly evolved organization, and the Visions team was seeking a new online presence that better reflected their work and credibility, and that would grow with them instead of remaining stagnant.

The site's primary audiences of youth & families, alumni, and educators all boast distinct user journeys on the new website, ensuring relevant information is accessible within three clicks of the homepage. In addition to these audiences, the site also works to galvanize support, encouraging visitors to partner, support and donate to invest in the future of STEM. Key to the new website's success was clarifying Visions of Science's engagement model and programming streams. Site visitors can now clearly explore all four engagement pathways, and better understand which are program and registration based, which are research & advocacy based, and which are run in partnership with like-minded organizations. Impact is reinforced through numbers as well as stories, a function which can grow steadily as they do.

The already robust and colourful VoS brand was reimagined for the web to create a STEM-oriented look and feel that is engaging for youth, yet still professional and credible. Delicate, animated design details on immersive dark background textures give the site an experiential feel, inviting users into the world of STEM in fun and exciting ways. The vibrant shades in the signature VoS palette were included as interactive accents, used on buttons and other user interface controls, as well as through a whimsical chalk-like icon system.
