Details

The team behind the “Dig This” podcast were seeking a logo and identity to guide the podcast’s look & feel not only on audio platforms, but also across social media and other marketing touchpoints. Above all, they wanted the artwork to feel nostalgic and of-the-earth, bringing an accessible and fun feeling to the archeology field that reflects the diverse topics covered in each episode. The nostalgia is achieved through outdoorsy, throw-back typography, with a subtle depression that echoes the idea of digging down into the earth. The logo can stand alone as a wordmark, or be shown in combination with the identity’s crossed shovels, featuring subtle heart details that call back to the tagline “Archeology for Good.”

To capture a definitive earthy quality for the identity, a rich, jewel-tone colour palette was created with impact and contrast in mind. Deep shades of red & brown reflect the colours of layered earth, while the mustard and forest green capture the sun above and surrounding landscape, providing punchy and high-contrast lights & darks. The identity and artwork are also infused with rough textures throughout, ensuring all touchpoints have a gritty and rough-around-the-edges feel.
